Hari Raya around the corner, it is time to prep your home to welcome family and friends during the festive season. If most of the areas in your home are decorated with tiles, you’ll find it breeze to clean the surfaces. Just follow these steps and you’ll have sparkling clean floors, walls and countertops in no time.
CLEANING GLAZED TILES
Glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles are extremely easy to clean. All you need to do is wipe the tile surfaces with a cleaning cloth or sponge and mild cleaning detergent, such as a multipurpose household cleaner.
CLEANING STUBBORN STAINS
When stains are left for too long on tile surfaces, it may require a bit of scrubbing to remove stubborn stains. To remove soap scum and mildew on bathroom tiles, use a multipurpose spray cleaner and leave it on for a few minutes before wiping down the area with a cleaning cloth or sponge.
The porous nature of unglazed tiles and grout mean that they can easily collect dirt and grime in the kitchen, bathroom, balcony or porch. When this happens, use a multipurpose cleaner or a grout cleaner and soft bristle brush, such as a toothbrush. Gently scrub the grout in a small circular motion until the stain is removed.
AVOID HARSH CLEANING AGENTS
Although tiles are known to be hardy, they should be treated with proper care. Avoid harsh cleaning solutions and tools such as acid, bleach or steel wool pads that may scratch tiles.
